Volcanic ash and flight disruptions

I had good timing with my flight from Toronto via Reykjavik to Frankfurt. Two days before and beyond the airport of Island was closed, but I had seen the ash cloud of the volcano from a distance.

At home we celebrated mums birthday and I was very happy about my granddaughter.

Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy, so I always tested the weather, before I went out or I stayed next to the warm tiled stove.

Toronto, the biggest city of Canada

Toronto is a green city with many trees and parks like Karlsruhe, but soo much bigger and with hugehigh-rises.

I got on a yellow sightseeing bus, trains and subways. On the Underground Walkway (17 km) I even found my way to the train station by following the path most of the people took.

I also watched the most important exhibitions and museums, because it was often cold and rainy.

Niagara Falls

Overpowering, roaring, gigantic, so I experienced in the near distance the Niagara Falls from a promenade, a vessel and a tunnel.

I would like to surf the waves of the Niagara River – I could only stand the power of the water, while I was shouting loudly.

Flames and a lot of smoke

At my first day in Oakville I could watch the fire brigade in action. The fire was not easy to extinguish because of the construction with timber.

After steadily wandering around, I am just enjoying live with my aunt and my uncle, having a warm bedroom with bath for my own, relaxing.

Sometimes I do small excursions in Oakville or to Hamilton.

From the bird's-eye view

With beaming sky I had a fantastic view with the flight from Newark in New Jersey to Toronto. The Niagara waterfalls and the landing were especially impressive.

„Have you fancied thus Harlem?“

„Have you fancied thus?“ asked us a guide of the Youth Hostel when he took us for a walk through Harlem. We were astonished at the former houses of Dutch businessmen or the well which served till 1950 as horse watering place.

There are even more quiet spots in NYC, e.g., in CENTRAL PARK or in GREENWICH VILLAGE.

The town that never sleeps

The town that never sleeps and always entertains, this is one of many titles, NYC carries.

We made these experience all around the TIMES SQUARE where it is at night as bright as in the daytime by many neon lights.

The town of the superlatives

Like the immigrants from all over the world we approached the immense Statue of Liberty from the ship.

Brooklyn we explored by the coach and returned on foot to Manhattan on the amazing BROOKLEY BRIDGE.

From the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING we tried to see all 5 parts of the city.

Farewell nearby the Liberty Bell, NYC

On Saturday we stopped in Philadelphia for the last meal and review on our tour.

With great expectations we approached New York City - and got stuck soon in traffic jam.

The next day had rain and wind for us, but weather-experienced we sat on the upper deck of a sightseeing bus.
