In the reserve

On my trip through the island I liked most the museum village in the reserve of the Kariben. They call themselves Kalinago, however, were called by the conquerors as cannibals (= karib) to fight (kill) them better.

Still today they paddle at special occasions with their canoes made by one tree to the neighbouring islands. They are gifted craftsmen and try to preserve thus the culture of the forefathers. Most live as farmers on the cultivation of fruit and vegetables.
