Rousseau, the capital

There are only small busses for public transport on Dominica. You wait on the street and sign that you want to go. The drivers are friendly, listening rather loudly Raggae music and you have to pay when you get off the bus. On the way suddenly you think of a bread – no problem – the driver stops and waits in front of the bakery.

So I went after the lessons at the Primary school into the centre of Rousseau. I like the craft shops, the coloured houses, the music which comes out of the shops and the fresh made juice on the street.

In the Botanical Gardens I discovered a tree that connects branches and soil with his aerial roots. In the Museum a model shows how the movements in the earth under the Caribbean Sea create earthquakes and volcano eruptions.

And the oldest people live here!
