Tours de Martinique 3

High up to the most northern point I drove on narrow roads, that climb up the mountains and flow down on the other side. Approach to the harbour I went into a diver who brought his worthwhile haul to the shore.

Afterwards I drove from the east to the west coast (approx. 30 km). I came into the nice small towns of "St. Pierre" which lies below the volcano Pelée. Up to its destruction by the volcano eruption in 1902 the former capital was seen as “Paris of the Caribbean”. At that time all inhabitants died, except one (approx. 26,000 people) and Fort-de-France became afterwards the new capital of Martinique.
